During your routine dental check-up, we thoroughly screen the health of your head and neck (extra-oral) including your lymph nodes, joints, soft tissues and your facial and chewing muscles, all the areas in your mouth (intra-oral) spanning from your lips to the back of your throat. This is all inclusive of checking the health of your teeth and gums. Recognising the early signs of disease and decay is key to better oral health.

  • 1. Ulcers that do not heal within several weeks
  • 2. Persistent, unexplained lumps in the mouth
  • 3. Persistent lumps in the lymph glands in the neck that do not go away
  • 4. Pain or difficulty swallowing
  • 5. Changes in your voice or problems with speech
  • 6. Unintentional weight loss
  • 7. Bleeding or changes in sensation in the mouth
  • 8. Loose teeth with no other obvious explanation
  • 9. Non-healing tooth socket after extraction
  • 10. Difficulty moving your jaw
  • 11. Red or white patches in your mouth

This is not an exhaustive list, and may rarely lead to oral cancer but is best to have yourself screened.

In doubt? Don’t ignore it, book yourself in for a screening.
